DEATH BY DROWNING.

A young man named John Singleton, who has been engaged gum digging for some time past near Washer's farm at Pakete was accidentally drowned on Suuday last. He went down to the river at Pdkete with two others to bathe oa Sunday mo ning, and neither of the three could Mvirn. Singleton got out of his depth and was carried away by the current. Tho body has not beou recovered. Deceased was a native of Blackburn, aucashire, and it is said was very respeetablp couueeted. The deceased has property at Auckland. It is likely that the body will bo found in the shallows down at; Rangirm, when an inquest will be held.
