Although only some three-fourths of the burgesses went to the poll yesterday, there was considerable excitement as evening drew on concerning the result. About half -past 6 o'clock, a number of people had gathered outside the Council Chambers, and when the Returning Officer came out and announced the result Dawson 85 Beale. 70 there was considerable cheering.
