THE BRIDGE AT HAMILTON.

The ceremony of handing- over the traffic bridge at Hamilton takes place to day at 2 p.m., and the opportunity will be taken to make the occasion a regular gala day m Hamilton. The band of the Hamilton Light Infantry will be present* as will also the Hamilton contingent of Waikato Volunteer Cavalry,, and a strong muster of settlers and visitors from all parts of the district is looked for, as the openiug of this bridge is not merely a Hamilton affair, but one affecting the interests of the district. The bridge will be christened the "Victoria Bridge," and the ceremony will be performed by Mr 3J. B. Whyte, the wife of our worthy Mayor at present m Wellington. Captain McPherson has accepted the office of marshal of the procession, which will form at the Telegraph-office m Victoriastreet. The following is the programme to be observed : — Order of Pbooessiox. Hamilton Volunteer Light Infantry Band Waikato Volunteer Cavalry ' Equestrians Conveyaaces School Children Engineers and Contractors Borough Council Other Public Bodies Pedestrians.

The Band will fall m opposite the Telegraph-office at 2 p.m. The procession will be marshalled by Captain McPhcrson, and, to prevent confusion, all joining it must obey his orders. All private conveyances will draw up m rear of the Mayor's carriage on the west side of Victoria-street, and public conveyances and horsemen on the east side of the same street. All conveyances on arrival at the east side of the bridge, where the ceremony will be performed, must move on us will be directed.

The school children will meet m Le Quesne's Hall at 10 a.m. for practice, after which they will be dismissed, and will re-assemble at their respective schools at 1.30 p.m. to take part m the proceasion.
