POSTAL IRREGULARITIES. July 18th, 1872. J i. _a to draw the attention of whom ifc may concern to postal grievances. That there is room for improvement somewhere will be evident I think from the feAv following facts, which I give as a sample out of many others I could mentiou. I had intended long ago to take up the matter, but I always put it off in hopes that things Avould improve, bub they do not seem to do so.

The first instance I shall refer to, is that of a letter sent to me from a gentleman in Hamilton, under date Mth June ulfc. This letter was got out of oar Post Office on the 3rd July inst. The letter was correctly addressed in every Avay, and it had only one postmark on, <so that ifc could not have been knocking about the country trying to find an owner ; and yet ifc took from the 14.-th of June to the sfch of July in reaching mo from Hamilton,

Again, on the 3rd June ulfc., a neighour of mine was at our Post Office, and received a letter for me. This letter I oosrht io have received myself ou the 28th, when I called for letters. It -was evidently in the Post Office on the 28th, because there had been no mail delivery between the 28 ;h and 30th.

Again, a letter under date 9lh July instant, and with tho Hamilton postmark of the 10th (distinct) was sent to me by a gentleman in Hamil--ton.; This letter oughfc have reached me on^ the 12th. 'On that date I asked if there were any letters for me, aud was told no.

On the 17th I called at Iho Post Office and received this letter, tho lOth being mail-day.

Regarding the way I receive my copies ©f the Waikato Times, I may observe that I believe I am pretty near tho mark when I say that during the last 12 months a third 'of the issues fof that paper have never reached me. Some weeks I have received one issue, somc^ weeks two issues, and on rare occasions I receive the whole three.

If need, be, I shall refer to postal irregularities more prominently on a future occasion. — Own CoiiresrOiN'DEOT.
