Dr. Pollen moved, " Eor the oikcial report of the late native jneetiu"- m Wnikato;" and said that Mr theohan had quoted m the House, at tlie end of lash session, garbled extracts from confidential telegrams left by him (Dr. Pollen) m the Native Office.
Colouol Whitmore, m defending Mr Shcchan, expi'es.sed his strong dissent from the native policy from 1569 to the accession of the Hon. Dr. Pollen, who had at once infused more firmness m the Government dealings with the Maoris.
