PARLIAMENTARY.

(From Oar Own Correspondent.)

WELLINGTON, Friday.

The debate on the Address, m reply, comes on at 7.30 this even-

ing-

The Opposition asserb they have twelve or fourteen of a majority to oust the Government, nn the Amendment to the Address, but this is doubtful, as many members are keeping dark, avoiding pledges. The new Fox Ministry, it is asserted, will be : Fox, .) ohnson, Macfarlane, Stevens, Watefield, Olliver, and John Hall (of the Upper House). The difficulty about arrangements for the loan, by the San Francisco mail, will be tided oyer, through the action of the Governor.

I think there is no doubt but Government will be beaten on the Amendment, but the whole question of going out of office of the Grey Government is very complex, no one knowing-, or being able to guess what strategical cards tho Premier may have concealed, to play. Ministers are very rsticent, even to their political supporters.

The story about the correspondence, re the appointment of Speaker to the Council, turns out to be true, although denied by Colonel Whitmore yesterday m the Coancil. Several Government supporter*; will m debate, it is asserte I, arraign the Premier for his aytbns. Many of them wish him to leave the Ministry.

The Middle Party seams to be taking new vitality.

The Opposition Avon't press a division, aucl endeavour to keep their men from talking.

The Hinemoa goes to Taranaki, to-night, to fetch the remainder of the political ploughmen.

WELLINGTON, last night. REPORTED REQUEST TO SIR GEO

GREY, TO RESIGN,

It is reported on good authority that a deputation, of the Liberal party waited upon Sir George Grey this afternoon, and represent .d that it was their opinion that if he did not resign m favour of some other member of the party, it must be defeated.

Sir George Grey has given no reply.
