HARAPEPE.
November, 23. After the consumption of a good deal of red tape, and a vast amount of routine, the land in tho district that was bought, by the Government to be given .back to the natives, is to be re-sold, and a surveyor is to come up from Auckland to classify it previous to the sale. There is some of it very good land, and a great deal of it very bad. I have not yet heard the upset price at which it is to be sold, but some of it will have 10 be put u L i at a great deal less t/han the Government paid tor it, or it will not sell at" all, I think. There is a very good chance now for any one to get a block of good land at a reasonable price. The Pirougta Highway Board held a special meeting on Monday evening, the 18th instant. The object of the meeting was to have a road surveyed through some of the above land before it is sold, as the present surveyed road is quite impracticable except at great expense. The crops and fruit trees are not looking so well as they should do for this time of the year. : In this district, there has been a great deal of rough wind all the spring, aud very cold nights—more like winter ; in fact, there has been very little mild weather.—From a Corresponent.
