WHATA WHATA.
On Tuesday the 19 bh, we had our quarterly sale at Bernard's yards. There were a large number of buyers, and a fair number of stock. Prices ruled higher, and settlers were quite satisfied as, indeed, they might be. The proprietor of the Whatawhata Hotel is making extensive alterations and improvements in his house, which, when completed, will add considerably to the convenience of bobh himself and his customers. In fact, the rapidly increasing trade of Whatawhata amply justifies a liberal expenditure in enlarged accommodation, without counting upon the aditional trafic which will pass through our township, upon the completion of the Hamilton-Raglan road. •On Fiiday evening last, we had a a quadrille party in our hall, and it was, unquestionably, the best affair of the kind that has taken place in the township, thanks to the indefatigable exertions of Mr A. Crawford and. Cracker. All the guests -were pleased with the arrangements, and dancing was kept up till daylight. I must not forget to mention the musical services of Mr White, which contributed greatly to the success of the entertainment,— Own Correspondent.
