Sir, — I respectfully request that you will kindly subjoin these letters, as they treat on the one and same subject — Te Awamutu terminus. Mr John Howe Mandano commences by acknowledging the truth that he is the person who wishes to have the railway terminus removed from its proper site, and have it established on his own land. J. H. Mandeno goes on to say that within the last three months several gentlemen have spoken to him on the subjsct of making an effort to induce the Government to bring the railway into Te Awamutu. Perhaps-he wiU give the public the names of these few gentlemen. Sir, I shall give you a brief sketch of the work of these few. gentlemen as they are termed. I must compare them to a party of gipsies Who ran over the district quietly for signatures to a petition explaining the great advantages that would accrue to the district and public m general by bringing tho railway through the village, and having the terminus m Mr Mandeno's paddock. In this way they all gained a little information, and when they returned m the evening to the meeting house they made coraoi m stock of it. The sagacity as well as the news of many, thrown into one common chaldron, produced such a vapour of conjectures so strongly flavoured both with imaginations and improbabilities that those given to a more synthotical mode of receiving information might well stand with wonder and laugh at the result. — I am, &c, W. Sloane.
