Sib, — In reply to the letter signed " Physic," which appeared m your issue of the 23rd instant, it being from the captain of this modern baud of gipsies, I cannot represent them more naturally than under the namo of a pack ot dogs, for this set of men are, like them, composed of finders lurchers, and Betters. Some canvass for the prey, others pursue, others take it, and they all come rushing m at the expected death, but, to their great consternation, m this chase, they have had to retire discomfited before the stern voice of public opinion, which causes them to go about like dangerious curs with the muzzle on. — I am, etc., W. Sloane. Te Awamutu, Feb. 26, 1878. [We have been compelled to excise a considerable portion of two of the above I letters, as we cannot allow this journal to be used by anyone as a vehicle for personal abuse.— Ed. «W.T.'] .
