TE AWAMUTU PUBLIC MEETING, RE RAILWAY TERMINUS.
Sic, — I beg you will grant me space to reply to three letters which appeared m your paper on and since the 21st instant. Philanthropists may talk as they please of men and morals, etc., etc. There is no need of Hutcheson, Smith, orPaley. Only take a newspaper, and consider it well. Read, and it will instruct thee. Turning to Mr H. Roche's statements, of the above date, he commences: "Now, Mr Edi-or ," and goes over the old discourse that he related to the public meeting— offering no further proof of the correctness of the arguments then used, and which Avere so much doubted on that occasion ; and still more so now, since Mr J. Henderson and several other gentlemen declare that they were present all the time that this aUeared conversation was going on, but never heard the subjects of "railway" or "terminus" mentioned. Mr H. Roche next states that thore are five acres of the Te Awamutu reserve set apart for a cemetery. On this matter, I must inform him that the live acres he talks of are on the south bank of tho Mangahoi stream, and that Mr J. Hally has seven acre and Mr Innes one acre between the cemetery reserve and the village. — I am, etc., W. Sloane. Te Awamutu, Feb. 26, 1871.
