PUKEKURA HIG HWAY DISTRICT ELECTION AND MEETING.

A public meeting of the ratepayers of the Pukekura Highway Board was held at the Pukerirau Schoolroom on the Bbh December, 1877, for the purpose of electing a trustee , m the place of the late Mr Parker. , The Chairman read the advertisei meat convening the meeting. Several gentlemen were proposed, but Mr Joseph Gane was unanimously , elected to till the vacancy. A meeting of the 'trustees was . afterwards held. Present: Mr Lake (Chairman), Messrs Wm. Reynolds, E. B Walker, Francis , Hicks, and Jo eph Gane, when , following teniers, for forming 1 the main road near Cambridge, were opened : — Mr Jaa. X ;eky, £2 93 61 per ohain ; M - Deaia Hiclcay. £2 ss. do ; M> An^us MoKay, £2 15% do; Jfoaare Kaely and nitloa, .t2 7*, da. Ifc was proposed and seconded , thai the tender of Denis Hickey be accented. — Carried. * Mr N irivsb's eing the only tender sent ii for forming the road (near Mr Battle's) 6a lid per chain, was accepted. >"! Severtl gentlemen were proposed ; as valuers for the rateable property m the district for the incoming year. Mr John Fisher, Pukerimu, was unaniin »usly elooted.
