THE WAIKATO RACE MEETING.
Sir, -As we mny anticipate alargenum' bei of visitors during the rnces, and I belirve (he Railway and Waikato Steam Navigation authorities intenJ to s^ive our visito-s a cheap trip, it is to be hoped •that when they land on our 3h>res, they will find -soiaetliiiig better than Shank's pony waiting to convey them to the races, and from thence to our various out-dis-tricts. This would ba a good opportunity for those whu cater forthe travelling public to continue the excursion started by Ihe Railway. Passengers could be met at the steamer by coach, taken to ihe races, m the evening taken on to Kihikihi or Alexandra or Cambridge and return to the races next dny and coutinue the trip to those settlements not previously visited, by this means seeing as niuish of the ountry as possible m the shortest spac? of time. Strangpw wouLI be well repaid by a trp through the Wuikato at the present time, From what I can hear the racecourse is m good order, and will be at no very distent time one of the best io the country. — I am, &c Waipa. Oiiaupo, 20th January, 1877.
