Mr Hay's motion was then carried ananimously.

Mi* Mandeno proposed that before any further business was proceeded with, a second. member should be added to the Kangiaohia, riding. The Hon Mr Whita. ker had poiutei out i hat the remedy to the mistake m only giving Rangiaohia one member could be rectified at the meeting of the council.

The chairman pointed out that though a second member could be given to Kangiaohia, such member could not be at onca elected, noh indeed, until the next general election. The matter then dropped.

To expediate busine s tha chairman waa on the motion of Mr Germann appoined temporary clork to the councd.

On the proposal of Mr Hill that the Council should consider the advisabiiio or otherwise of bringing the whole Act into operation,

Mr Hill — We have power to meet on the top of Priroagia if we think fit.

Mr Fiaher thought the council might b* just as inconvenienced by meeting i i the

t^ourir 'House, tiaruiicori,' as' it wal i Hot to bo snpposei they oouid ulways have the use of it.

Mr Hill had arrived at the conclus : on that Ohaupo was the best place, us ment central, and most consonant with tluj wishes .of the majority of the electors. Mr Edwards had promised the use ot his premises for thp.purp-.se and was prapired'to grain a deed of gift of land for ofTues. lv a few months too luo telegraph would be extended to that pUce.

Mr Hammond did no o tbink the with of the electors had been con lilted, uor was it for the convenience of the electors that the site of the C uiny offices should be chosen. The presence uf the telegraph was a iiioessity, so was the posibiiity tf referring for legal advice as business jjruceeded. In the ca.e of a obrk being a[>p inted, ie would render it necessary that he should live at Ohnupo. He thought the meeting should be held m some town or civilised spot.

The Chairman did not think the personal comenieuce of Councillors ahou'd be taken iuto aocjuut. Tne placi should be chosen oo aa beat to expeoi c public business. Mr Hay thought the claim of Hamil ton was indiaputable, as at that place thtre v c c population, telugiaph and pos office, lawyers and means of oomiuui.ioating with other councds. There Would be much business to do with the Waikato Council. Ha did not tbink that even for once the ineetiug of the Council should bo held at Ohaupo The btlauoe of travelling between Ohauj.o and Hamilton was only a matter of jtiot 15 miles when the juunnya of all councillors were averaged. He move 1 us an amendment that the next meeting of the council be held at Hamil'ou, at the Court House, on Friday, the 19th inst.

Mr Hammond tejonded the amendment.
