ALEXANDRA. June 12th. 1876.
The Committee of our Public ILill were ; ngaia fortunate « on Thursday lust, upwards ♦of one hundred persona being present at their Concert, wlrich was a great success, ' thanks to the kindness of our frionds from other districts. The performers in- •■ eluded the most talented lady and gentle'i»e'\ amituors that could, well bo together. When 1 mention that Mr and Mrs Mclntosh and that most talented . pLino accompunyist Mr Chitty with Mrs 11 D L Duffuß all assisted at the entertainment 1 together with the Te Awamutu Dramatic Club, who performed the farce • of " Turn him out," in a most creditable htyle, I think I have said enough to prove the excellence df the -entertainment. ' The funds of the Hall, too, must have been greatly augmented by an impromptu lottery, of the goods and fancy articles remaining on hand from tho late 'Bazaar. A danco, -which was kept up with unflagging spirit until early morning, concluded a most enjoyable entertainment. There ia very little native news, Te Ngakau with Tuhi and "Whitiora were down last week in closo eonferenco with Msjor Te Wheoro the result of which has not yet transpired. — Own •Cokuespoxdi:nt.
