CRICKET. ZINGARI V FRONTIER TEAM.
A cbigxit match was played at Te Awamutu, on Saturday last, in Mr White's paddock, kindly lent for the occasion, between eleven of the Zingari Olub from Hamilton, and an eleren chosen from the Frontier settlements. As will be seen by the scores, the latter were successful having won the fame on the first inning* by 16 runs. When time was called Zingari had two wickets to fall and. 10 runs to get to win to that it is hard to say who would have wan had the game been finished. The Frontier men showed by far the best batting form, P Bond, Morrison, Carter, Steel, and Carleton all having played well for their runs,- and Carter bowled most mc« cessfully getting 12 wickets to his credit in the two innings. A E Cox for Hamilton got 11 wickets and J Wood 7. The number of extras supplied to Zingari was far in excess of what they returned, the longstopping of BurgU being remarkably good throughout. The most extra* ordinary feature of the match was the number of Hit Wickets, no less than six men being thus disposed of. We understand that a return j match will be played in Hamilton in th« course I of a few weeks.
