Correspondence. READING ROOM AND LIBRARY To the Editor of the Waikato Times.

Sir, — Being a new arrival in the district of Hamilton, and not having any comfortable place of resort (except the room in the hotel), which is not at all times a> desirable place to pass night after night in — especially if you do not want to drink. I think it would be a great boon an I a great gx>d it something could be done in the shape of getting the usa of some room in which a man could sit down and read. Newspapers and books are very plentiful, and could be easily and cheaply obtained. Now that the long winter nights are coming on what an excellent thing it would be if some place could be got — if only temporary — to use as a reading room. I hear th*t it is the intention of some gentlemen to form a chess club and draft club : now the room could be av-tilahle for such purposes, and be the means of a great many gentlemen meeting tog ther for mutual improvement A smajl subscription would cover all expenses connected with the conducting of such an enterprise, and I feel sure that iryou will take up the matter something might be done to furnish such a great desideratum. — Yours, <fee. Stranger.
