On Friday nigbt last, between 6 and 7 o'clock, a fire occurred m the building at. the rear of the Criterion Hotel, To A»amutu. The hotel has lately b>-en sold by 3fr C'.vnny to Mr Costcllo, and was at the tinio of the fire occupied by the former poison. It was with great difficulty that the flainos were confined to tho building consumed, in consequence of the great scarcity of water; indeed, had it not been for the ample and energetic assistance of the settlers nothi.ig could linve saved it. We regret to hear that Mr Canny is a considerable loser bv the occurrence, the* whole of his clothing, furniture, and £200 in notes having been burnt.
