ENTERTAINMENT AT ALEXANDRA. (FROM A CORRESPONDENT.)
A concert nnd gift auction in aid of lining the Episcopalian Church, at Alexandra, wus held in tho School-room, on Friday night. The attendance was very good, and everything passed off remarkably woll. The following songs, glees, &c. were very well rendered and enthusiastically recoivod : — ' Whero art thou Beam of Light,' — by tho Church Choir. ' The Last Rosoof Summer,' with variations, was beautifully executed on the clarionet by Sergeant Mclntosh, of tho Armed Constabulary. ' Wait for the Turn of the Tide.' — Mr Prince. ' Molly Darling/ — Miss Finch. * Juanita.' — Tho Misses Allen' 'Study of Economy, 1 (Comic Song.) — Mr Toy lor. 'Captive Greek Girl,' (solo). — Mrs Puffus. 'Peace be to Thy Spirit,'— Mrs Duffies and Mrs Bright. ' Kiss in tlio Ring.' — Mr Evans Gubbins. ' Father, Dear Father.' — Miss Prince. ' Come O'er the Brook,' (part song.) — Church Choir. ' Clarionet Solo,' by Mr Mclntoah, ' I Wandor by tho Brook Side,' (solo), beautifully rendered by Miss Kate Allon. ' The Skipper and his Watch,' (solo) Mv Willoughby. ' Home thoy brought Her Warrior Doad.' — Mrs Trobe. ' Happy be Thy Dreams.' — Miss Bright. 'Oft in the Stilly Night.' — Mr Gubbms. Reading—Tennyson's Now Year'i Eve.'— MrsTrobe. ' Second Thoughts,' by Miss Finch, was well sung. ' There is No Placo Like Home,' (solo) — Mrs Diiffiis. ' Mother Kiss Mo in My Dreams.' — Mr McConnel. ' God Save tho Queen.' — By tho whole of tho company. This concluded tho musical portion of tho entertainment. A vote of thanks was accorded to those who hnd so kindly contributed their eflbiH towards the success of tlic concert. .After which tho chairiniin (Mr Aubin) announced that tho Gift Auction would tnko pl.ice, and wo all immediately went in for business. Many of the articles offered wero reully valuable, and brought capital prices ; the bidding wnu very spirited, and in less thim an hour over £13 worth of littlo nick-knacks were disposed of. A lucky bag was then sent round, winch not only helped to swell tho proceeds of tho entertainment, but afforded much amusement. By 11 o'clock tho whole nffair was concluded, and all doparled (with iho exception of sonio of tho younger members of tbo audienco who went in for nn impromptu dance,) very iniiuli plcnsnl with their evening's amusement.
