The Posts to be sawn from the heart of kauri, to be per. fectly sound, straight and free from sap, luose knots, tpeckles, and all other defects N B. — Any Post containing the least sap will be rejected, and all posts laid on the line and afterwards fouud in any manner defective, or not in accordance with the specification] will be cut into two pieces by the Examining Oflicer. The Po^tb to be delivered aloug the line at points to be ndicated by an Officer appointed by the Government. The major portion of the posls to be twenty (20) feet in length ; but some will be required twenty -five (25) feet long to be laid at points as indicated. Posts of both tho abo^ lengths to bo eight (8) inches square at the butt, and tapered to six (6) inches square at the toj). The whole of the Post 3 to be delivered within three (3) calendar months of tho date of acceptance of tender, under a penalty of five pounds (£5) to be paid for every working day the contract is not completed after that date. Each lender to bo accompanied by a deposit of twenty pounds (C2O) as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited to the Government should any tenderer refus to enter into or sign a contract in tho event of his tender being accepted. Eucu tenderer must submit for approval the names of two (2) sureties willing to enter into a bond for tho due performance of tho contract in the event of his tender being accepted, and each of the persons so named must enclose a notification (m tho tender) of their willingness to accept the responsibility.
