nnHE object of the Company is to provide regular and -■- speedy Steam Communication the Waikato River! to supply a want so long and universally felt in the District. Provisional Directors have ascertained the opinion of tho Waikato Settlers on the subject, and have been promised nlmot-t i.nai imous support. As the name of the Company implies, it is the intention to make it principally a settler's undertaking, and with that view, the Company is to be formed in £1 shares, so that all residents may be able to join, thereby securing to the Company the whole of the river traffic, and consequently, to themselves a remunerate c investment. The Directors anticipate that the Shares will be fully subscribed for, and operations commenced within six months and that not more than 10s. per share will be called up satisfactory banking arrangements having been made. It is proposed to build a powerful steamer suitable for he requirements of the river, at an estimated cost of £5001 ; also several barges and Goods' Depots. Arrangements havo been mado for a supply of Coal at Ralph's Mine, at the rate of 10s. per ton, for a term of years. The Waikato Flax Company are -willing to run their steamer, now being built, in connection with the Company, or if desirable, amalgamate the same with it. The Office of the Company is to be in Auckland, with a Manager in Waikato, under the direction of a Local Committee. The Provisional Directors to hold office for Six Months roni date, when a General Meeting of Shareholders will be called to elect a Directory.
