SCHOOL EXCURSION.

HOLIDAY QUESTION. The executive of the Chamber of Commerce met this morning to further «> ■■ discuss the matter of the town closing for the school excursion which is to be held next Friday.

After due consideration it was resolved “That in view of the probability of . the town closing on the occasion of the Duke of York’s visit to Hastings on Friday week the Chamber docs not feel disposed to recommend retailers to close next Friday, but that they be asked to allow those members of their staffs off who desire to go to the excursion.

A request from the H.B. A. and P. Association to-arrange with retailers to close their shops for the H.B. Autumn Show next month was also before the Chamber. In, connection with this it was decided that the matter was not one for the Chamber.
