The Rev. .Canon Rice, while playing tennis recently, had the misfortune to break a tendon in his.foot., Mr Rice is able to continue his duties, though with some inconvenience.
General Andrew was the guest of Mr and Mrs J. H. Turner, of “ Merton, ” Hatuina, for the week-end. General Andrew is making* a toui” of the North Island in connection with the Boy Scouts’ movement.
Gladys Moncrieff had a wonderful reception at Daly’s Theatre, London, when taking the-place of Elizabeth Pechy 'in the loa'ding part of “Blue Mazurka.” Her singing charmed the audience, who loudly applauded every number.—A. and N.Z. cable.
