THE BOROUGH STAKES.

o— — EASY WIN FOR ARCHITECT

[By

“Rolling Pin.”]

The spectators who gathered at the Ash pole to witness the result of the Borough Stakes on Wednesday saw a walk over for the favourite Architect. His backers stood to win a good divvy, with which they intend to engage an expert to train Honest John and Gaslight for future stakes. The expert tips that the Gasometer Course is safe for future trials with a licensed rider.

Seelace, being an aged horse, stood the heavy going better than Storekeeper, and secured fourth place by a nose. Although Storekeeper was well ridden by Paperweight, he only managed to gain fifth place. This is a promising colt, and stands to win the Borough Stakes at the next meeting. Contractor did well, and should make a good horse. Land Agent, though he had been off his feed, finished well up among the placed horses.

Also started, Ifiat, Speculator, Butcher Boy, and Agriculture.
