THE FLEET.

The London “ Tinies ” pays a high tribute to the American Fleet which, it says, has impressed the world by its voyage. In Sydney preparations are going on for the visit of the fleet. Auckland volunteer marksmen in a rifle shooting match with representatives from the American fleet, defeated the latter by 65 points. In reply to the Acting Chief Secretary for Queensland who cabled to him expressing regret that the fleet could not visit Brisbane. Admiral Sperry replied expressing his heartfelt thanks for the warm invitation and his appreciation of the kindness and hospitality he was being accorded on all sides. He trusted that the community of interest between the two races would continue to increase.
