WANGANUI COUNTY COUNCIL.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Wanganui-.-County Council was held yesterday. -Present:—Councillors E. E. Fletcher (chairman), Vv. J. Poison, Jas. Biggie, 'C. S. Burnett, F. H. Allen, and J. McGregor. The chairman reported that nothing had' beep done in the matter of the Upokougaro Ferry as the Mangawhero Eoad Board had not yet met. Tiie Council went into committee to discuss the accounts, which on the Council resuming, were passed as read. The State Advances Department wrote forwarding .£998 of the loan account. The cleric reported that he had accepted tenders of' .£2718 odd for the work on the Barton-Field’s road. The clerk's action was confirmed. Mr 'Mannington stated tuat he had estimated that the work would cost ,£2780. The clerk reported the following hank balances:—General, account, dr., £986 4s 7cl, loan account, cr. £1145 17s 9d.
