WESTPORT DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

At the monthly meeting of Committee, held on Tuesday afternoon, the Chairman and all members of Committee present, tenders were opened for Hospital supplies and services for the current year. The following tenders were accepted:—Burials, J. A. Carr; Wash ing, Mary Morris ; Bread, Felix West ; Meat, Suisted Brothers; Groceries, Bailie and Humphrey ; Wine and Spirits, Stitt Brothers. Aa enquiry into a charge laid by the House Steward, against a member of Committee, of alleged attempt to use undue influence, onbehalf of anintending contractor, in 1372, resulted in the following resolution, which was carried unanimously : That so long a period hav-

ing elapsed since the date of the alleged circumstances referred to iu Mr Poole's statement, the Committee do not consider it necessary to express any opinion on the subject, and refer Mr Poole to clause XXX f. of the Westport Hospital Eules. for his guidance. The Committee, however, feci bound to express surprise that the House Steward had not before taken action in compliance with such rule. Clause XXXI. is as follows : —"Any Steward, Wardsman, or Patient of the Hospital having cause of complaint, may make the same known to the Medical Officer, who shall report thereupon to the Visiting Committee."
