DTJNEDIN. The Guardian states that if Wellington remains the seat of Government it will be made a Federal territory, with Wangamii as a seat of the Provincial Government. This will get rid of the pressure of Provincial authorities on the Colonial Executive, otherwise the disruption of the Colony is inevitable. HOKITIKA, P. A. Learmonth reports the sales •of shares in the Hokitika market as follows : —Fiery Cross gradually rising, 250 shares were sold at £4 each; Fleeces, 10s ; Health, £SO ; Anderson's, £5; Caledonians, £10: Energetics, £35 ; a quarter share in the Alexandra, .£300; Walhalla, £loo.' AUCKLAND. The s.s. Star of the South has arrived from Fiji, and brings the following items. It is reported in Levuka that Commodore Goodenough reports unfavorablj of Kandavau as a port-of-call for the San Francisco mail steamers. A bank has commenced operations at Levuka. WELLINGTON. The Mua-upoko and Ngatiraukawa tribes of Natives, near Otaki, quarrelled over the Horowhenua block. Firearms were used. Mr Maclean was at once in direct communication with the parties. Quiet has been restored and commissioner Booth succeeded in settling the dispute peaceably. No one was killed.
