•(Before Joseph Giles. Esq., R.M.) Ttjesuat, December 16. infoumatiohs Watkins v. Reid.—Mr Fisher for prosecutor. Mr Shapter for defence. The informant William Watkina ■alleged that John Campbell Reid bad on the 9th instant, in giving evi- • deuce In the assault case Reid v. Watkins, committed wilful and corrupt perjury in stating that he, the informant, had flourished a tomahawk over his (Reid's) head and threatened to put out his brains, aud also iu stating that he, the informant, and one Brinkley were not sober at the time referred to* Mr Shapter made techuical objection to the information and it was dismissed. Police v. Franks. Charge of furious riding. Dismissed with a caution. Police v. Eliza Walsh.—Charge of ■ assaulting Constable Ibbitson by throwing a stone at him while on duty on the 15th instant. Fined 40s, or in - default 7 days hard labor. Campbell v. Powell.—A Lyttleton street charge of assault. The evidence as usual was conflicting. The case was adjourned from Tuesday until Wednesday, when defendant was fined £4 and costs. CIVIL CASES. M'Kcmiav. Gothard.—Claim for £6 for detention of 4 pigs claimed by plaintiff". This was a case of disputed ownership, and the evidence given was contradictory. The plaintiff was nonsuited, costs £2 lis being allowed defendant. Eugene Joseph O'Conor v. Douglas. Claim for £ll, rent of cottage in Cobden street. Plaintiff appeared by his agent Michael Organ. Judgment for plaintiff in amount claimed, and costs 19s. M'Elwee v. Jones. Claim for £1 6s for work performed. Judgment for full amount and costs £4 15s. Messetic v. L. Bonguelmi.—Claim for £6. Money lent and expended on behalf of defendant. Mr Fisher for plaintiff and Mr Shapter for defendant. Judgment for defendant, with costs 31s. WESTPOBT WARDEN'S COURT. ' (Before J. Giles, Esq., Warden.) Tuesday, Decehbkr 16, applications. John Seaton.—For agricultural area, 30 acres, South Spit, section 222. Recommended. C. Rasmussen and three others.— Extended claim, four men's double ground, at Caledonian Terrace. Granted. J. Blackmore.—Special site for washing tailings, 200 yards by width of creek in Rochfort Creek, and adjoining and below Potter's claim. Postponed for further particulars.
