In consquence of an article in the " Star," Samuel Warren horsewhipped TJtting of the " Herald" in the theatre. He afterwards made an humble apology on learning that TJtting was not the writer of the defamatory article. Next day, Neville Walker struck Breet in the " Star" office, but was well thrashed—one of his teeth was knocked out,and having answeredtoan information, was fined £lO and bound over to keep the peace for six months. Shortly after midnight of yesterday, a motion of want of confidence was brought forward resulting, upon a division in a not altogether unexpected majority for the Ministry. The ayes were 15 and the noes 48, showing a balance of 28 in favour of the Government. John White, representative for Hokitika, and E. J. O' Conor, the member for Westland North were absent; Harrison, the member for the Grey Valley, and Tribe for Totara, supported the Government.
