2,053 EIIOM THE CALEDONIAN, THE MOANATAIABI CEUSHINGr. Tuesday, May 2. The Caledonian lodged 2,0500z. of gold in the Bank to-day. Good specimens have been taken from a lode with ten feet of the Cure bounary, upper level. The Manager reports that the chamber will be finished to-night, and that the sinking of the main shaft will be resumed to-morrow. The water has moderated. More specimens have been taken from the Moanataiari. One hundred weight is now on hand, 281oz. of amalgam has been taken off the plates, beins; the result of two days crushing. The month's return from the Shotover is lOOoz. The Long Drive crushing is not finished Scrip in the Caledonian has been sold at £lO6, and is rising ; Cure, £1 ; Tookey, quoted at £ll lis ; Central Italy, £1 • Eureka, 6s, firm—" Southern Cross."
