THE VON TEMPSKY FUND.
Mr John Packer Martin, as Treasurer to the Westport Amateur Dramatic Club, has received the following acknowledgement of the amount which he forwarded to Auckland in the name of the Club for the benefit of the widow and children of the late Major Von Tempsky : "My Deab Sib.—On behalf of the Committee of the Von Tempsky Widow and Children's [Fund I beg of you to convey their thanks to the members of the Westport Amateur Dramatic Club for their liberal donation to the Fund ; receipt of which (£18) I beg personally to acknowledge. " As you anticipate, it is very gratifying to the Committee to find their efforts seconded in such a substantial manner by fellow-colonists living at a distance from the province in which the late Major Von Tempsky was best known, and it is pleasing to find in these days of local jealousies that there are people who regard the Colony as a whole, and look on the loss of a brave officer as a national calamity.—Believe me, My Dear Sir, Very Faithfully Yours., Shortland, Jackson Cadell. Dec. 10.
