FATAL ACCIDENT AT GILES TERRACE.

We regret to state that an accident which was attended with fatal consequences occurred yesterday at four o'clock on Giles Terrace. A man named James Batman Hilbeck, who was working in Bruce and party's claim, was coming from his own tunnel, and was in the act of proceeding to the wash boxeß. In doing so he had to pass the tunnel of Griffiths and party, which opens on a higher level. At the entrance of this tunnel there was a truck filled with stuff, when unfortunately a large boulder fell from the top of the stuff and struck Hilbeck under the right shoulder completely crushing his heart, which caused instantaneous death. The body will be brought down to-morrow, and an inquest will be held before Dr Giles, Coroner.
