LATER NEWS FROM WANGANUI AND NAPIER.
ANOTHEE ENGAGEMENT WITH THE NATIVES. (BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.)
(from our own correspondent!) Wellington, Thursday. Later news lias been received from Wanganui. On the 27th ult., the cavalry, under Sub-Inspector Newland, had a brush with the Natives. Eight of the enemy were killed. There was no loss on our side. From Napier, the news is not satisfactory. Te Kooti is reported not to be dead. The enemy is thirty-five miles from Turanganui, and is said to be 700 strong. Two hundred of Eewi's people are ready to join. The Waikato Natives are reported as still quiet.
