THE PARADISE OF THE DEEP.

At this period of tbo year, it lias become quito a fashion for shopkeepers to make special efforts to attract'the public. Christmas is essentially the children's pleasure time, and the shop attractions are mainly for their benefit. Christmas trees have been and will be popular, and this year the number of these attractions in Wellington, are as great as in previous years. For a striking departure' in Christmas shows, there is nothing to equal in beauty and splendour, the mechanical representation'of'the'" Btt'bf Nepturio," or the Deep, that is now on view at Messrs George and iCei'sfey's Warehouse, knflwii as the " Jicpuomio." In a room specjaUy set apart for jihe piir-. pose, and darkened tq admjt of the effects, Father Neptune holds (lis Cpurt, attended by aijiermaid, iyhilp , a Bearserpept, sharks, ootopi, crabs, ! and large and Bmall fishes, are all faithfully represented. The scenic accessories are perfeot, and the whole show has proved a wonderful attraction- to young and old, To add to the delight of the hundreds who have visited.the Economic, the tables are piled up with all kinds of seasonable goods, 'Xmas cards, toys, nick-nacks, etc., which are marked in plain figures, at moderate prices. Indeed, the low prices 'form a striking feature with the Economic, and business is in consequeuce good. Visitors from the Wairarapa should not fail to see the special attractions at the Economic,
