By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Friday. Great interest was taken in tlio proceedings of tlio Licensing Committee, owing to the application of P, Gleeson, Into of Napier, for the removal of the licenso of the Waverloy Hotel, Lambton Quay, to Newtown.

The application of Qleoson for the transfer of tlio liconso from tho lal.o lessee to himself was strongly opposed, and tho hearing occupiod all the foromoon.

Tlio Court was crowded, a largo number of ladies boing present, and also several clorgymen and Salvationists, and the trade was strongly represented.
