Feathekion, Friday. Tho usual meeting of the Town Board was held on Monday evening Inst, when the Treasurer reported a credit balance of £29 5s Id. Accounts amounting to £IG 9s lid wero passed for payment. Tho County Council wrote askiug for the Board's views re granting a slaughterhouse license to Mr A. Yule. The Town Board resolved that they could do nothing in the matter as the proposed site is beyond Ipalf a mile fijfl tbcirboundary. Tho general opin® was that there would bono nuisanco if the license wero granted, The School Committee's usual monthly meeting was hold on Wednesday evening la6t, when the Treasurer reported a credit balance of £l4 10s 2d, and £1 17s 6d was passed for payment, In the Headmaster's report he desired the Committee to give their opinion as to an anonymous letter which appeared in tho local press, and which criticised him rather severely. Tho Committeo were unanimously against taking any notice whatever of anonymous correspondence, and resolved that they wero satisfied with the Inspectors' report, On Christinas Day there are to bo some saddlo races for grass-fed liorseß, on Mr Nicol's raco-courae. In fact, everyone who has a horse thinks he has a young Carbine under him, and you may expoct to hoar of all sorts of trials being indulged in.
