P, Powles, in answer to an '_ application from the Socioly to get ' un old man mimed Hedgor into tho Home for Aged and Needy, wroto 1 saying that the laws of the Homo would not allow of the application being granted. An application for assistance was ' made by Mrs McDongall, of Tenui, ' as her husband was belploasly pros--3 trate and suffering from cerebral softening, Sho was willing to go to work, but hsr husband was in auob. D a condition that ho could not be left I by himself—Tho Chairman stated 7s per week had been grantod as it was understood thatMr MoDougall'fi illness was of such a nature that he could not bo admittod to an asylum or hospital.—lt was rosolyed that the allowance be increased from 7s to . 12s por week, and the Secretary I was instructed to writo to Mr MoDougaH's landlord asking him if ho J could reduce tho rent of the cottage A 3 occupied by McDougall, If he t cousonted to do this, tho TrUßi tees would guarantee the rent and » also pay up any rent now owing. ! The Secretary of tho Old Men s Home wrote notifying thatthero was I an oponing in tho Homo for ono.— i It was resolvod to send the man Wili Hams down forthwith. The amouut spent on 16 casual cases in tho current month was £1 4s 7d against £3 13s 6d disbursed last month on 40 caseß,—lt was resolved that a number of allowances be reduced in amount, and that B, ' Morgan be Btruok off tho list. Resolved that all regular cases be continued till next meeting. The total disbursements during the last month amounted to £6815s Id; balance at Bank £4B 7s Bd. The Chairman stated that the Trust should make application to the United District Charitable Aid Board for a farther grant of £IOO, otherwise they would have to reduoe the expenditure of tbo Society.
