FIRE AT UPPER PLAIN.

A barn, stablo and sundry out-'? buildings on Mr John Hessey a property, at Upper Plain caught fire this morning and were totally destroyed. The contents, which consisted ofimplements, and harvesting machinery were saved, but abont one hundred bushels of oats (all the produes in the barn at the time) were destroyed. Tbemen's cottageand the residence of Mr Hessey were fortunately saved, the wind being in a favourable direction. Mr Hessey is at present absent in the South, and the amount of insurance on the buildings is not known. Any quantity of assistance was rendered by the employes and residents liviug near at hand, bat having no hose it was found impossible to 6ave the barn and other outbuildings, The origin of the fire is a mystery, Since writing the above we learn that the granary and stables were '1 insured with Mr W. B. Chennells, in '" the London and Lancashire Office for £175, and the grain and tools for £SO in the same office. The buildings were roomy, substantial.and well fitted, and Mr Hessey loses a considerable siim ofer his insurances.'
