The Moslems of Kansu destroyed the wires in order to prevonfc tho Chinese mobilising their forces, The Chinese, it is said, aro unablo to contend against the Moslems, owing to tho lack of arms and stores, and the Emperor, becoming alarmed at tho success of tho euemy, has ordered the Kashgar garrison to Kansu to assist in suppressing the rising. Li Hung Chang has been ap« pointed to direct tho movement.
