TE NUI NEWS.

j/l Imm Oar Otrn Cormponfatl. Unce again the shearinp season begins, and great numbers of swaggers and shearers are journeying through Te Nui, hh mile, for some station; where tlioy are like to obtain employment. Messrs Williams and .' J Beetham have commenced shearing on their Annedalc property. They employ a great number of men during the season. Mr Handyside commences shearing on Friday next, and the " South Islanders" are now to be 6ecn plodding towards the field of battle. The wool clip this year will not be very j.liuavy unless we have some better weather than we have had lately. In my last notes I neglected to mention about the Hoods. Two Hoods in a week is not so bad for Te Nui. Great excitement prevailed in several bouses adjoining the river banks, the water was getting a little too close to be pleasant ; not only .; was man excited but poor bunny also. He was to bo seen sitting on tops of / bushes which were almost under water. Verdict—" Accidentally VBwwncd!" Tvnce more the Te Nui Bachelors have been in evidence with a ball. 1 hear the young ladies intend giving a return very shortly which, no doubt will be very welcome. It is V also reported that the married people ■ intend to give a return as well. Too » good to be true, lam afraid ! Mr K. Mcintosh (lato of the city) is now installed in the Grasscndale Hotel, and by what I bear, lie is a man likely to do well in these parts. A meeting of cricketors is to be held next Saturday at the Te Nui Hotel for the purpose of getting funds for baying the cricket gear, etc., and arranging other matters. ' I hope to see a good club here this year. There are some very good players round here, but they do not seem to take much interest in tho game, No doubt this in owing to the distance they aro away fromTeNui, and tho busy seaBon just coming on, «It if)blowing a galo hero this (Wedgday) morning and great is the music caused by the rattling of tins and other musical instruments. The j, din reminds one of the ToNui Band.
