PAHIATUA NEWS.
i Bij Telegraph—Own Correspondent, PAniATOA, Thursday. A public meeting was held at Mangatainoka last night to consider various matters. Tho action of the Committee in forming a Horticultural Society was endorsed. The proposed Betterment Bill was discussed and on the motion of Capt, Richardson, the following resolution was carried:—" That this meeting of settlers at Mangatainoka considers the Betterment Bill as affecting this district, a grossly unjust measure, calculated to rob the settlers of tho increased valuo of their property created through their own industry and tho expenditure of capital." A Committee was appointed to obtain signatures to a petition against tho Bill.
