From Our Otcn Correspondent Monday. A meeting of Stewards of the Wairarapa Racing Club was held at the Empire Hotel on Saturday. Present—Messrs W. E. Bidwill (chairman), G. Reynolds, W. J. Nix, J. S. Cundy, W. 0. Williams, P. Pcarce, C. Bidwill, R. Bright, A. M. Wilkinson, and 11. Morrison. The Treasurer reported a dobit balance of £ill 4s Id,
Accounts amounting to £SB 17b Id were passed for payment. Another application was received from J, Cooper for removal of his disqualification for breaking a lock on the MoroaCourse. TheStewstrds were still of an opinion that they could not seo their way to remove the disqualification. The report and balance sheet was read. The report shewed that thero are 200 members in the Club and all paid up. It was resolved to givs Messrs Bright and Morrison a testimonial as to tho efficiency of their starting machine. It was resolved to recommend to the Annual Meeting that the Secretary's salary be raised to £75 per annum, and that £lO bo voted towards help for tho Treasurer. The Secretary was instructed to havo a fence erected round the now training track, and the obtaining of grass seed for this track was left in the hands of tho Chairman. A threo year old daughter of Mr 1 and Mrs Skippago died from croup on Saturday msrning, this making the third death in one week.
A vory handsome tombstone has been erected over the grave of Mr and Mrs Lucena, tho former's body having been brought from Mastorton a little while back, and placed beside that of his first wife, who was buried in tho local cemetety.
