THE KUCHENG MASSACRE.
FEARFUL ATROCITIES. Received, August (i, 0.50 a.w. Siiaxgaiii, August 5. Fearful atrocities were committed on the unfortunate missionaries at Kncheng. The mob set lire to tho residence of Dr Stswart, who with his wife and ono child perished in tho burning building. Seven lady missionaries were butchered with spears and swords. Mies Codrington was seriously wounded, and several children badly hurt. The rising was incited by Mandarins. Shanghai, August 6. The authors of tho outrages in Kucheng are members of a newly formed Agitation Socioty composed of tho rabble of the City. The women were subjected to tho most revolting cruelty.
