The at- i tendance of the public was large and : i a largo entry of horses came forward. : I j Bidding at the commencement . dragged very much, but improved i as the sale proceeded, although many ' lines were passed in under the i liammer. I succeeded in quitting I most of the entries before the close i of the sale at the following prices: 1 4-year old light draughts £l4 10s '. to £l6; good harness horses £9 to i s £1310s; hacks £4los to £7; old i crocks £1 to £1 10s. No heavy i i draughts came forward. On Tnes- ' day, May 7th, I held my usual fort- i , nightly stock sale at Pahiatua. The : ' entries of stock were large, every pen being filled, There was a good I attendance of the public. Kidding was slack throughout, especially for weaners. Good classes of dairy cattle realised good prices at previous rates, but some of the lines yarded were turned out unsold, not reaching owners' reserves : ThdWlowing prices wererealised: -Fat cows, good, £4 as to £4 7s Gd; flight weights, £3lßs to £4 2s 6'd; store cows, £2 as; yearling steers, 355; strong weancrs, 275; calves, ■ Us; dairy heifers, near calving, good, £4los; do, in calf, £3 2s Gd, to £3 15s; good dairy cows in full profit, £5 ss; do. in milk, £4; do. springing to calve, £4lss to £5 10s. ! Sheep: Empty ewes, 4s 6d, Pigs: None penned. , On Saturday, the 11th, 1 held my .teal weekly produce and miscellaneous sale. Tho demand bus been Black during this week, sales have been effected at reduced rates:— Potatoes, £2 17s fid to £3 10s; \ onions, firmer at Id per lb.
