WAIRARAPA NORTH COUNTY.
FINANCE COMMITTEE,
The Finance Committee of the Wairarapa North Comity, mot this morning. Present —Crs Maiinsell (Chairman) Groves,Cockburn-Hood, E. Smith, Guild, and Stuckey. The Treasurer reported, gcnoral fund account, dr. £2821 9s 8d; L.B.L. account, cr. £lß4l Is Od; accounts (dr. balance) £131418s Gd. Receipts since 11th April, amountod to £B2O 6s 10(1, including rates £325 7s 6d, and contribution from Castlepoint Road Board, £4OO. The Collector was instructed to tako immediate steps to get in tho outstanding rates, Tho Committee decided to recommend an advance of JE4B to John Jacobsen, to meet cost' of clearing slips on roads under his charge, and to contribute £35, under certain conditions, out of current yeai's revenue, towards estimates £3O, for removing slips 011 Sheehan and McGratli's contract, on Saunders' Road, ■ Tho pay-sheet for last month (£B6l 5s Id) was recommended for payment, 'l'ho Clerk was instructed to write to the Masterton Borough Council, asking for the payment of their share of licensing exponses, and at tho same timo to intimate that unless the account was paid in ten' days, proceedings would be taken for recovery, The Committee declined to make any recommendation in the matter of Kennedy and Co.'s lettor re penalties 011 the contract on Saundors' Road. It was resolved that tho, Council be recominonded to endeavour to arrango with the Bank of New Zealand to reduce tho rate of interest on the oyer-draft to 6 per cent, On the motion of Cr Guild, seconded by Cr Stuckey, the ; Committee decided to recommend the Council to reduce the wages.of surface mon by one shilling per day, to take effect fromlst June next,
