A deputation from the New Zealand Alliance, headed by Sir R, Stout, waitod on Mr Lawson, son of Sir Wilfrid Lawson, on the steamer Doric, this morning, for the purpose of welcoming him to tko Colony, and showing their respect to his father, Tho deputation expressed tho hope that Sir Wilfrid might see his way to pay a visit to tho Colony, where his presence would do a great; deal of good to tho Temperance cause. Mr Lawson, in reply, said his fathei was a very old man, and he did not think ho would ever come out to tile Colony. He had a great many duties to vorformatHome, and besides he was averse to travelling, and unless it was for the benefit of his health, did not think his father would ever undertake such a long sea voyage. However, lie would represent tho views of the Alliance to him, and point out how tho visit would assist the cause.
