TENUI NOTES.

From a Correspondent.

May Bth. * In my last notes I montioned I r would not say much about the weather, but this week I cannot say too much. I'or the last two or three (lays we have been enjoying Old Sol in all his glory. Had the rain, which we experienced last week, kept on much longer, it would have been another poor look out for our roads, but Providence befriended us, and turned off the tap in the nick of time

What about tho Tinui Bridge ? Hnvo tho travelling public to swim the swollen torrent during the winter ? And the poor pedestrians, what of them ? Perhaps some of our millionaires will provide them with wings, with which to make an serial Right over tho waters. Report has it that the East Coast bachelors are arranging a grand ball to be held at Castlepoint on tho 124 th inst. The Tcnui bachelors hold their next enjoyable dance on the 17th inst. Our School Committee are at loggerheads now. Seemingly they (v | are divided into two or three partios, ® and I believe it is highly amusing to hcav them. Of course eaeh sido has its own tale, and as tho old saying goes, " ono tale is good till another is told." However, they have not come to blows yet, although some very sultry discussions have taken place. I hoar that one of our stores possess a set of boxing-gloves; would it not bo a saving of time to hire thorn, and finally settle any vexed question that may crop up. The shooting season has commenced fairly well, some very good bags having been mado. Pigeons are none too plentiful, but what have been shot aro in excellent condition. Ducks are very plentiful around horc—both tame and wildhut tho lattor are too wary for the majority of the sliootists, and the tame ducks suffer. A short time ago, a nottler not far from Tinui was carefully rearing a grand lot of ducks, but now there's " only one" B left. Some gallant sportsman mado a good bag ! Some other clover person has boen on the "bagging" lay too, as I hoar Mr J. Owen had some of his 'spuds' stolen. Our" tec" is following up, ready to " Coller-on."
