GREYTOWN NEWS.
From Our Own Correspondent. Monday. A large number of persons passed through here en route to the Tauhereniknn Races this morning. Mr Stanton and family are now Afiving in the Post Office, it having from renovated throughout, j About 160 children, parents, and friends journeyed to Wellington last Saturday on a school excursion. I hear that the authorities are going to make the same concession to Sunday Schools. Tho adjourned anuual publicmeeting of the Town Lands Trustees was hold last Friday ovening, only twelve persons being present. The usual report was read and after some discussion was adopted. On tho whole the meeting was what might be termed a " very tame" one. Tho annual school committee election takes place to-night, and from what one hears, this will also be a quiet affair.
It is a great pity the residents of our town don't show a little more interest in matters that concerns ■fom instead of allowing them to 'orift to a very low ebb. The school building should be filled with householders to-night.
