Mauriceville Road Board.

ORDINARY MEETING.

The ordinary meeting of the Board was • held on Saturday, the 30th March. Present—Messrs C. Forsberg (Chairman), C. Tait, J. F. Heckler, and P. Gleeson.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Larsen interviewed the Board with refcronco to some improvements in Mount Munro Road,—After hearing Mr Larsen, it was decided to expend a small sum on the road, under the Chairman's supervision. The following tenders were dealt with:—For painting bridge on Jackson's road—C. Hauberg, (accepted) £sl0IT. S. Cornish, £7los; G.H.Clark, £8 14s; F. Chapman, £5 10s. Painting bridge on Dreyer's Rock road—P. Neilsen, (accepted) £5 9s6d; 0. Hauberg, £7l9s;F. Chapman, £slos; T. S. Cornish, £7 10s. Metalling 10 chains on Tollgate road—J. Swenson, (accepted) 2k per chain; MrKerins, 20s per chain; N. Anderson, 22s per chain, Carting metal at per cubic yard per mile—Nils Andersen, (accepted) Ist milo 2s, 2nd mile 2s 6d; M. Kerins, Ist mile, Is B|d; 2nd mile, 3s 7|d The Clerk was instructed to see the Engineer about reducing cost of bridges on Cleland's road, and permission given for tho tunnelling to be proceeded with, The deputation which waited on the Minister of Lands with reference to votes for road works reported that the interview with tho Minister had been upon the whole very satisfactory. The grants of £SOO for Central Mangamahoe and £350 for Cleland's roads the Board will get at once. The yote of £3OO for Barton'slinetoWairerebasbeendiverted and expended but will be re-instated on the estimates next session,

This final settlement of the difficulty between the Land Department and the Board is largely due to the prompt assistance rendered by Mr Hogg, the Member for the District, who has devoted a large amount of time and energy in connection with this matter.

Accounts amounting to £602 8s 3d were passed for payment,
